A free online tuner that works in the browser on your phone or computer. Just allow the microphone and play: the needle shows whether the note is sharp, flat or in tune, and a timeline shows whether the sound is steady.

How to tune the guitar
- Choose Guitar in the app and open the tab Tuner.
- Play an open string and let it ring. The tuner finds the string on its own.
- Needle to the left: tighten the string by turning the tuning peg slowly.
- Needle to the right: loosen it a little below and bring it back up to the center.
- Repeat from the 6th string (the thickest) to the 1st. In the "Tune the 6 strings" lesson, the app guides you string by string.
How to tune the violin
First tune the A, then D, G and E. For small adjustments use the fine tuner on the tailpiece; the peg only when the string is way off.
Ready to play your first song?
Open the app, turn on the microphone and play along. It shows where each finger goes and tells you when the note is right.
